Tablets/ipads or laptop

Tablets /iPads or laptop for class note taking?
I'm very jealous of those who can take notes and are able to read them a week later and still know what they say. I'm super jealous of those who can print so well that a computer would be jealous. So what do I do about note taking, you ask? Well, I use a computer/tablet.
I guess it comes down to taking the laptop or tablet to school.

Tablets: they're smaller, easier and lighter to carry in a bag, purse or hand held.  They generally have the same word processer, internet usage and multi media options that a laptop has. The key difference is that the laptops have a CD/DVD drive and tablets and iPads don’t, though most come equipped with USB ports.
So which is better for the actual word processing and creating of papers? Tablets /iPads are good for those classroom note taking times and for the research in the library sessions. As stated before, they're a lot lighter to carry and smaller, which should be taken into account if there are textbooks , lunches and, if you’re most  women, things like extra lip gloss, keyes, wallets, hair ties etc that have to be carried as well.
As a person who has had the experience of bringing both a laptop and tablet to class and taking notes, I find that the quick note taking and simple writing is easier with a tablet than lugging a 10 lb. laptop to class. But for the long paper writing and long essays with lots of research involved, I find it easier to use a desktop/ laptop with a larger screen and key board; typing is easier and I get a better overall look at what is on the screen.

  2. For me, a tablet is just another thing to buy... Although you made good points I find my new MacBook to be pretty light compared to my old laptop. Besides that I am still old school and use the old pen and paper... I don't know why but I can't get used to taking notes on a laptop. Maybe it's because it's too structured for my liking or maybe it's because I'm paranoid that the person behind me is looking at my notes and laughing at how dumb they sound... Heh.
