ReplyDeleteThis is a interesting post. I also feel that internet memes are slowly finding there way into pop culture. I wish it was not true because I have things like Amazing Horse in my head all the time, but I do see it happening. A good example of this is South Park, which has turned into a show about pop culture and even they did an entire episode on memes.
Is it sad that I know all of these memes and more? I mean where would I be if I had not discovered Reddit? (Other than have a 4.0gpa haha)
ReplyDeleteSeriously though I feel that places like Reddit, 9gag and even (dare I say it) 4chan have really made a huge impact in pop culture. I cannot go on Facebook without someone linking me a Rage Comic or something from Reddit or the like. These memes have really made a large impact where even news stations cover the larger memes circulating. It is just interesting that with the growth of the internet that these “memes” will also grow. Yes they can sometimes be distasteful but for a large majority they are rather harmless and vary funny. I would be sad if I ever lost Reddit as this website keeps me sane most days. Also, if you have not checked out Reddit.com/r/funny I suggest you do so!
And as a final note I have now listened to LeekSpin for 08:13 at the time this sentence was written, my poor brain…
